Health Lecture to Our Factory by Physician Team in Panyu Guangzhou
On Dec. 12th, 2009, under the lead of professor Zhang, the physician team in Science Center in Panyu Guangzhou gave us a lecture of health by the invitation of our company. All departments in our company appointed representatives to participate in the lecture in the major meeting room.
The topic of this lecture is to let us know the causes of accidents at work, the preventation of chronic diseases and how to deal with emergencies. Professor Zhang taught the staff how to avoid the occupational diseases and idiopathic accidents through practical cases and medical equipments, considering of the factory environment and daily operations of machines.
In our work, everyone may encounter the situation of being injuried, but most people have no idea of how to properly deal with the situation. Well, learning some basic approaches and preventive measures may reduce the rate of accidents. The contents of the lecture is as follows for sharing.
Handling of Industrial Accidents
The internal factors of the injuries may be caused by physical discomfort or insist on working with illness and so on. When we met with the situation of breathing and cardiac arrest, we should take prompt cardiopulmonary resuscitation to rescue the unconscious person.
1. Judge whether the environment is safe.
2. First aider kneels beside the patient.
3. The middle finger of the ambulancemen should be placed in the lower edge of costal arch of the patients.
4. The middle finger slips up along the costal arch to the converging point of bilateral costal arch, and the index finger is close to the positioned middle finger.
5. Ambulancemen put your hand flat and make the palm root affixed to the index finger to coincide the horizontal axis of palm root with the long axis of the sternum.
6. Put the fixed hand on the hand back of the other hand palm to make the two palm roots overlap, index finger crossed, the palm tilt and fingers leave the chest.
7. Forward the upper body of the ambulancemen, make the shoulders in the above part of hands, straight arms ( straight elbows ) and force downward vertically, using the upper body weight and shoulder muscle strength to operate.
8. The sternum press depth of adult is 4-5cm, of juveniles is 2-3cm, and of infant is 1cm.
9. Don’t leave the palm from chest after relaxing.
10. Pressing speed: 100times/min.
11. The ratio of compression and mouth-to-mouth blowing: 30:2
The Prevention of Occupational Diseases and Chronic Diseases
Nowadays, many people minimize the hazard of chronic diseases to some extent, but actually the hazard of chronic diseases can’t be ignored and it’s the primary killer of people’s health. Such as, cancer, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity.
Chronic diseases can just be prevented, it can’t be treated completely, so we should change the concepts of accepting treatment after being ill. Eg., the ideal blood pressure is systolic pressure <120mmHg, diastolic pressure <80mmHg, and the normal pressure is systolic pressure <130mmHg, diastolic pressure <85mmHg. The complications of hypertension include stroke, renal atherosclerosis, uremia and coronary heart disease. Therefore, we should take preventive measures of “less salt and fat food to exercise more, drop smoking and limited alcohol to reduce stress, the key point of taking manometry timely, and our security of health to obey the doctor’s advice”.
1. Regular diet: limted fat food, fried food, animal offal and sweet food, we should eat more fresh fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy food, reducing the salt intake of less than 5 grams per day.
2. Rational weight loss and weight control: the most effective way to lose weight and control weight is to abstain from eating excessively, reduce the intake calories and increase physical activities.
3. No smoking and limited alcohol: the nicotine in tobacoo can stimulate the heart to a faster rate and make the blood vessels to a higher pressure. Excessive alcohol, especially hard liquor, can cause rapid heartbeat and hypertension.
4. Sports: appropriate physical activities can enhance physique, maintain normal weight, preferably 30-60mins for each activities. Well, of course the intensity varies to different people.
5. Psychological and social factors: high blood pressure patients should combine work and rest together to keep a nice mood, avoiding the ups and downdowns of emotions.
6. The habit of measuring blood pressure: we should measure the pressure once in at least one or two weeks. There are two peak periods during a day, that is 6-10a.m. and 4-8p.m. . In this two periods, we can know the highest point of the blood pressure in a day.
Therefore, we should do the following five cornerstones of health:
1. Regular diet: healthy recipes, restrained diet to ensure the daily nutritional requirements: 1) A glass of milk per day to improve the bad phenomenon of calcium intake; 2) The intake of carbohydrates of 250-350grams per day is equivalent to 0.6-0.8 Jin of staple food; 3) eating 30% high-protein food of daily food; 4) the intake of 400 grams vegetables and fruits per day is essential for preventing hypertension and cancer.
2. Regular exercise: walking three kilometers in 30 minutes each time and exercise at least five times a week.
3. No smoking and limited alcohol: “living in the smoke of tobacco, and dancing freely when drunk” is a kind of life many people are pursuing. A small amount of tobacco and alcohol do no harm to our body, but excess will be detrimental to health.
4. Psychological balance: meeting the three standards of happy is mastering the key of health: 1) help others in favorable circumstances; 2) be contented in daily life; 3) enjoy ourselves in adversity.
5. Enough sleep: if we sleep less than 4 hours a day in a long-term, people’s resistance of illness will decline, and will accelerate the aging and weight gain. So we should sleep no less than 8 hours a day and form the habit of nap.
If you can obey the above five points and maintain a healthy lifestyle, you will own a healthy and beautiful life.
